Titans and Turkey Week

November 24th, 2009

Looks like a grey morning outside in Houston. Maybe the weather is grey, because it suits the mood of the town of Houston after they ran into the streaking Tennessee Titans and the VY/CJ duo. Might be my guess.

Patrick and I continued our tradition last night by attending the MNF game in Reliant Stadium. It was by far the most exciting game he and I have attended. The game in September had much more action, but this one was electric. The atmosphere was great and there was no shortage of energy due to the nature of the rivalry, the state of each teams playoff aspirations, as well as the MNF telecast. Well fortunately for my boys in the powder blue, we were able to pull out of the Bayou City with a W. I must admit, I have never been a fan of VY, but the style of offense we play, and the way he is protecting the football, I’ll have to roll with him. Maybe I’m becoming a believer. Maybe I’m just really hungry for some more victories. Who knows, but he looked good last night and has looked good over the past 4 weeks.

So now we are off to Lafayette. We are actually in the act of packing as we speak. Well, Patrick, Amy and Elizabeth are packing, I’m of course blogging. I’m not actually sure what time we are heading out of here, but I think there is some pizza in our future before we leave town. Who knows … I feel like a cargo item. Fly down, drive here, drive there … drive back, fly back :-D But I’m just saying, I’m not complaining at all. I feel like a I’m going to need an overweight tag put on me, since I’m cargo, and since I’ve done nothing but eat our entire time down here. From mexican, to burgers, cajun food, bbq, free beer tailgating. Just a lot of goods have been consumed in a short timespan. And from the sound of the conversations this morning, we are eating mexican tonight, then of course Thanksgiving is coming up in a day or so. And I’m sure mom will have lots of tasty treats for us to devour.

I am enjoying this last week or so before I have to have my surgery next week. I haven’t really said much about it, but I’m having a hernia fixed next Friday. So, get a good week in of eating and indulging before I spend a week laid up, and then FINALLY I can get back to exercising. It has been about 2 months since I’ve been able to exercise since I’ve been concerned about tearing anything worse than what it already is. Next Friday really can’t come soon enough.

Time to do my part. Shower, pack and get ready to head out. I’ll have some more updates as the trip rolls on. Enjoy these photos in the meantime

Dang! Can’t believe I missed you again. Tell your SIL to be a better event coordinator next time!

That was a great ballgame. In fact, one of the better Monday night games. I know you both had fun, prolly one had a little more fun than the other, but at least you got to experience the whole thing together. We have enjoyed having you over and getting to meet Elizabeth. She is a sweet young woman and we are looking forward to getting to know her and her family better. Your Mother and I appreciate you taking the time to come see us and share the holiday with us. It is really a special time when we can all get together and laugh and eat and play like we used to as a family. Both you and Patrick have been wonderful boys and young men. We are just so happy that you both have found the women that make you happy. I will cut this a little short because we just saw you , but sometimes it solidifies our sentiments better when we can put it down in your blog too. You will do fine with your surgery next week… I know Elizabeth and your Mother will take good care of you and you will be back to your old self in no time. Just do as you are told and shut your mouth…….

Dude, we had a blast hanging out with everyone Thursday night, wish it could have been a bit longer from our side of things, but I’m sure you were busy all week talking and visiting with old family friends. I’m gonna look at my schedule for the spring and see if I can get a long weekend visit done! Miss ya bud!
