Tasty food

November 20th, 2009

Wings were some kinda tasty last night. For some reason lately they have not been as good. A big part of this is because they haven’t been spun with enough sauce, so they basically just tasted like fried chicken. While this is normally 100% OK, it is not when you are expecting that habenero flavor. Well last night they did not disappoint. We actually had a larger crew too. Adam showed up, as well as Jeb, who is becoming somewhat of a regular. It is nice to have the 4 of us, and then when other show up, its pretty much a bonus.

Conversation was good … We spent some time talking about all of our Thanksgiving plans which was nice. I’ll tell everyone we will be down south because there will be someone staying at our place the whole week. So not really worried about security. Then we discussed our Holiday Mixer that we are setting up for some point in December. Should be a lot of fun.

I can’t believe we are already at Thanksgiving. What I mean to say, is I can’t believe 2009 is almost in the record books. And with that comes age and life. Some of us are having our first kids, some of us are turning late 50s and 60s, some of us are close to dipping into our 40s, some of us are having surgeries, and lastly some of us are in their 40s. Just seems like it goes by so quickly, and continues to accelerate. Feels just like a roller coaster. Starts off so slow as you hear that tink tink tink … and then next thing you know you are flying for 30 – 45 seconds and its all over. So I guess my point to that rambling was to enjoy your time doing whatever it is you are going to do over the next week. Have fun with family. Have fun by yourself. Eat the heck outta some turkey and celebrate life. I’ve come from some pretty dark places in the past 18 months that I care to never visit again, and you can bet my last dollar I’m going to enjoy this next week with my wonderful girlfriend as we tour the places my family dwells.

Oh, and if you are looking for some good travel music, the new John Mayer Battle Studies album is good as well as the latest Norah Jones. Enjoy!

Patrick and I had started to have a Thursday wing night tradition to be with you in spirit, but I think it lasted two weeks :) I don’t know how you eat the habanero. I like hot, but not too hot where I can’t enjoy the food.

Time does seem to fly by now days. It seems like we just celebrated Christmas, and to think by this time next year, you’ll have a six month old niece/nephew running around (well maybe just hanging around, not running).

We are really looking forward to spending time with you and our new sister next week. Family should never feel like an obligation, but hopefully something we can all look forward to you, and we are, and I know your parents are, too. Hopefully by the time you leave, our clothes will still fit and we’ll still have money in our wallets. We may have to go on a diet the week after, but as long as it was worth it, it’s ok :)

I’ve been considering buying the new John Mayer album, but haven’t yet, so I’ll just get a sneak peek from you. Somehow I just started getting emails from his fan club, and had the option to buy during presale, but never got around to it.

Well, enjoy your Friday and we’ll see you tomorrow!

Thanks for the wings update and glad your crowd looks forward to your weekly gathering. It is always nice to have some event during the week to look forward to with anticipation. I spoke with your little brother this morning and he said it was raining pretty good over there but should be out of there by this weekend. We are expecting the same weather tonight and Saturday morning but then things should clear up for the big Bayou Battle Saturday night. The Cajuns installed the all weather field last year so it won’t be a sloppy track. It is nice to see that you are taking time to enjoy the present rather than lamenting the past or wishing your life away. Nothing is more important than what you do with today. Some of us learn that lesson too late in life and wonder where it all went. Some of us like to make things happen , some like to watch what happens and others wonder what just happened. Being involved in life and enjoying what we have been blessed with is important…. it’s not all about having what you want but loving and being thankful for what you’ve got.
With those comments , I wish all a Happy Thanksgiving !!!!
